Here's what makes me think so (but not really): in the same verse where Mormon tells us Christ came in the end of the 34th year, he also says "SOON after the ascension of Christ into heaven he did truly manifest himself unto them." According to Nephite signs and their calendar, Christ died on day 4 of month 1. He must have been resurrected on day 7, right? Then for the next 40 days He was tarrying in Jerusalem before His ascension, so now it's day 47 of year 34. Mormon says Christ appears to the Nephites "soon after the ascension," so if that's in the END of their 34th year, maybe their years aren't much more than 50 days long. Ha ha. Mormon knew that it was part of the life, death, resurrection, ascension program, but not a date. I think he puts in shortly after the ascension to let us know the sequence, but not indicative of the actual time. He would know the time when Christ appeared to the people and he said it was the end of the year. He wasn't wrong on any of this other year and month references why would he be wrong on this? I don't think he was wrong. (Or so they thought. It was considered BAD fortune to be born in the 5 day month) Who knows, maybe the evil in the 5 day month came from the great destruction at the death of Christ.
