<description>Thanks, Dad! I was hoping to write/see a blog on Christmas traditions -- specifically hoping to hear some favorite holiday traditions of everyone out there. As I begin to establish family traditions for my own children, I am always looking for more and better ideas. So please share!

One I heard recently I'd like to try: a separate, smaller tree decorated only in things relating to Christ and the Nativity, under which family members place their gift to Jesus for the coming year in the form of a written goal scrolled up and tied in ribbon. Another fun idea: a Santa look-alike contest (using shaving cream) on Christmas Eve, followed of course by photo documentation of the winner(s).

A favorite from childhood: gathering in Mom and Dad's bed on Christmas morning until everyone was together, then going downstairs to see our gifts all at the same time.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

You make me want to write a post concering traditions in general. (now that finals are over, maybe I can! Yea!) But, I guess to sum up my thoughts on tradition, I think they are good and binding, like you said, as long as we do not place tradition in front of doctrine.
