<description>Don, your lessons were obviously coming across as too interesting and well-prepared. Stocking up on good reference books for the coming year was just the last straw. Oh well -- I guess the ward singles will learn a lot about Church history this year.

Either that or the ward felt you were relying too much on supplemental material then on doctrinal works!

I had teaching callings for about 10 years straight and then suddenly all those kinds of callings dried up. I was instead called to be a ward employment specialist, ward welfare person, ward mission leader, etc. and etc.

It's tough to stop teaching.

Oh ... I forgot to add elders quorum pianist to that list of other non-teaching callings that I had.

There's a real push right now for wards to reach out to the single adults, especially the 18-to-30-year-olds. Apparently that's the age group that is falling away faster than any other.

You seem to have a good attitude for your new calling, which can be a tough thing! (I was recently called back into the Nursery, the week after my youngest finally went to Nursery herself! Goodbye, Relief Society.)

Good luck in all your consulting with the Lord as to your specific duties and direction. That is a cool way to look at it!

In the meantime, feel free to share all your Church history insights with us anyway... seeing how I won't be in Gospel Doctrine anytime soon!
