Curse, No Curse, Curse?

We are all familiar with the curse in Gen.3:17 “cursed is the ground for thy sake.” And we complain about it to this day!

But here’s a little something I ran across that brings a question to my mind. In Gen. 8:21 as Noah comes out of the ark and offers sacrafice God says “I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake”

So is the ground cursed or not, if not then what was the curse that God placed on it with Adam. If it is still cursed then what does God mean when He told Noah this?

It still feels cursed to me!!

  1. I think it’s just a story and we’re not supposed to hang on every word like so many LDS love to do. But to indulge, perhaps the key word is “again”. In other words, no curse was lifted, but the curse wasn’t multiplied worse either.

    One of the major take-home points in Genesis is the world is chaotic, not an orderly. I suspect BKP’s Bible has much of Genesis ripped out.

    Why is there always a dig? Why didn’t you just indulge Don to begin with? What gives?

    I think it’s a completely different curse, which meant that God wouldn’t flood the Earth again like He did…I’m thinking the Earth can be cursed in more than one way…

    Thanks, I hadn’t thought of it that way…obviously or I wouldn’t have asked the question. I think you may be right on!

    Anyone with other thoughts?

    I just threw the question out in class last night, no one had an answer there, so now I can come back smarter.

    14 Behold, I, the Lord, in the beginning blessed the waters; but in the last days, by the mouth of my servant John, I bcursed the waters.
    15 Wherefore, the days will come that no flesh shall be safe upon the waters.
    16 And it shall be said in days to come that none is able to go up to the land of Zion upon the waters, but he that is upright in heart.
    17 And, as I, the Lord, in the beginning cursed the land, even so in the last days have I blessed it, in its time, for the use of my saints, that they may partake the fatness thereof.

  5. In my opinion, the curse may be weeds. Maybe there were no weeds in the Garden of Eden.
