When I served my mission I used a Bible that my parents gave me when I was about 12…not even a LDS version. And then I had a standard triple combination. These were marked up a bunch with the scriptures that you’re told to mark in seminary etc.
We talk about eternal families a lot. The church certainly places this concept as an important doctrine. But…should we really be concerned about not being an eternal family? (more…)
According to the 4th article of faith and other scriptures baptism is for the remission of sins.

Check out this month’s Ensign.
The first article is by President Monson and has a nice picture of him. Then on page 10 it shows the new first Presidency. It appears to me when I compare photos that he’s aged just in the short time he wrote the first article to 10 pages later.
(Actually he does look a lot older than his other photos)
I was talking with one of my sons about how Mormons treat gays. As I thought about and we talked it seems that Mormons in general have almost no tolerance for gays.
Are we really getting that fat that we need this? Or are we that lazy?
What’s your take on the changes?

I realize the obvious answer – mortal body – test by faith because of the veil. But there are so many similar things going on I found it interesting to ponder.
Bret and I were talking about employment during the Millenium. Since he’s a teacher he thinks he’s got a pretty secure job, maybe not now, but at least for 1,000 years during the Millenium. I guess I’m not too worried either. I’ve owned many many different businesses, so as long as there are businesses during the Millenium I’ll be ok too. (more…)

Why are so many in the church so nit-picky about the day we worship on, the mode of baptism, which hand to partake of the sacrament, what we wear on Sundays and them embrace pagan holidays, tradtions and rituals? (more…)
