We are usually afraid of someone if they have power over us or our situation. We are afraid of our parents because they can punish us. We are afraid of our boss because he/she can fire us. We are afraid of some people because they can control or influence others who effect us.
But what about Satan?
We hear in many talks the comparison between being an earthly father and our Heavenly Father. How much we love our children but how much greater love God has for his children. I’m not disputing any of that….but would He make a good dad? (more…)
I home teach a person who asked me this question.
I can remember when I was serving in the Bishopric and during a youth interview the young lady I was interviewing started to tell me about a situation she was in. I quickly stopped her, told her I wasn’t the one to talk to. Since it was a sin of morality I told her to talk to the Bishop.

When God created this world He set things in motion. He seems to have known when certain spirits needed to be placed on this earth to accomplish specific missions. Have you heard it in your testimoney meetings – where the person tell of their experience. They promised God that they would do something if He would help them thru something, or bless them with something etc. And they tell it as a very spiritual, faith promoting experience.

My brother and I were having an off blog discussion about Gospel Doctrine class–boring–and an “advanced” scripture study. His premise was all we really need is faith, repentence baptism, the H.G. and endure to the end, all the rest is just fluff.
So the scripture stories (Daniel, Joseph, Esther, Joshua etc.) are important because they give us nice examples of what we should do and be. But what about the prophecies? (more…)

My wife and I just returned from the National Bridal Market in Las Vegas. There were booth after booth of Wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses, prom dresses, veils etc. etc.

It seems to me that everytime we choose we either limit future choices or we expand future choices. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels like my choices are getting more limited. And I’ve noticed that the choices that others make effect me and limit my choices even more. (more…)

My son and I drive 40 miles roundtrip every Tuesday night to attend a non-mormon Bible study. The “minister” is well know in the born again Christian community. He has produced commentaries on most every book in the Bible, has a regular radio spot and produces CDs on various religious, political, and Israel related topics.
When I’ve told members that I’ve purchased most of his O.T. commentaries and attend his lectures weekly I’ve gotten some results I didn’t expect. (more…)
