Here’s my phylosophy…”Follow the Brethern.” I know he’s not the prophet but he’s ordained to be our spiritual leader and so he should be pretty close to God. Sometimes it’s hard to take their advice or council because it is humbling and/or hard to hear. But, in my experience, once I did “give in” and took their advice, things seemed to work out for the better. Does that make sense? I guess to answer your question…in my opinion…when you’re in that type of setting…the advice IS council.

My advice (FWIW) is to pray about it. It sounds to me like his advice was that: advice, not instructions.
But it would be valuable to ponder and consider…

Somebody once said that good advice was just outside affirmation of what one wanted to hear, and bad advice is just an observor being brave enough to say what one doesn’t want to hear. I would suggest that you examine your own reaction to find your answer….which I suspect you already know anyway, but maybe didn’t want to be reminded of it. When we know we are in the right, it doesn’t ususally require justification.
