Dan, Matt and Bret,

Who's your best friend? Jesus
Who is your mentor? Jesus
Who raised you? Jesus
Who would you nominate for President? Jesus

We know you guys are really righteous :) - now lets get down to picking our favorite mortal from the BOM.

My pick? Mormon

Either way, it's all semantics. I'm gonna go with Jared's daughter in the book of Ether. I'd love to see her dance!>:)

He's more like the "subject" of the BOM, Bret, rather than an actual character. His appearance in the book is fairly limited and pretty formulaic, compared with the Bible. He kind of just shows up to give the same speeches he made in the Bible, then departs. It's a guest appearance, a cameo, if you will.

MCQ,

Why is Jesus not a character in the Book of Mormon? Because He first came in another book that's older then He's no longer in this one? I would argue that He is THE character of the Book Mormon! If not that, at least consider the book a sequel to the Bible with some of the same cast characters:)

Come on people, animals are not "characters" of the BOM. Neither is Jesus. He's a character from another book who just happens to make a guest appearance.

I think Captain Moroni was Mormon's favorite:

1. He named his son after him.
2. The war chapters in the second half of Alma are quite lengthy. Mormon went through a lot of engraving trouble to include all of the details of that era.
3. Both had debuts as army general in their teens.
4. You will not find a more glowing endorsement for anyone else in the Book of Mormon; powers of hell shaken forever? WOW.

My personal favorite? The cureloms and cumons. Mystery characters! What were those things?

I'd have to say Teancum too. His anger reminds me of Achilles, yet it's source is far nobler and selfless.

My esoteric (which seems to be the norm around here) answer would have to be Gidgiddoni because of his cool name and the fact that he beat up on terrorists (much like Team Fortress America).

Besides Jesus, I don't know who I would pick for real.

The Wife of Nephi son of Helaman (son of Helaman etc).

He goes out praying in his backyard, gets mixed up in political intrigue, and then gets a message from God that he should leave town and start teaching the gospel all over the place... yet she raises their children to be righteous enough to also be called of God.

She is my hero.
