Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. Those Holland speeches have given me an idea on what to share at a youth conference this weekend.

I submitted five talks last night but they don't show up today. Let me try again.

Five of my favorite great American religious speeches.

1. J. Reuben Clark Jr., “To Them of the Last Wagon,” Ensign, Jul 1997, 35 (reprint)

2. Stephen L. Richards, "Bringing Humanity to the Gospel", April 1932 conference, printed in https://www.sunstonemagazine.com/pdf/015-43-46.pdf

3. Barack Obama, A Call to Renewal, http://www.barackobama.com/2006/06/28/call_to_renewal_keynote_address.php

4. Martin Luther King, Jr. I Have a Dream. http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkihaveadream.htm

5. Abraham Lincoln, Second Inaugural Address, http://www.bartleby.com/124/pres32.html

I stumbled across Elder Maxwell's "O, Divine Redeemer" recently, what an amazing testimony! Other talks that came to my mind is Elder Haight's "The Sacrament-And the Sacrifice" and President Faust's talk on forgiveness from 2007.

Ezra Taft Benson's GC talk on Pride come out while I was on my mission. I really needed it and it help change me and my mission experience for the better. I think it was April of 1988.

The Holland section on the Temple I read verbatim for a talk I gave at a Ward Conference last year. btw, this is the only time I have ever read in a talk (aside from short quotations). Very powerful.

I found the Incovenient Messiah as a Missionary and it has been a touchstone for me now over the last six years.

I would also include 'And none were with him.' That talk affected me very deeply.
