But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness, I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

I took an Institute class once in which we learned how to study the scripture. One of the classes, the teacher announced we would spend the entire class studying one verse, and asked if anyone had a favourite. I said I did, and suggested Omni 1:26. That was the best class ever and I gained a better appreciation for the verse.

Like any good Mormon, I'm trying to figure out a way to put a 72-hour kit in a phylactery. :-)

Don - Years ago I was about to give my first address to the congregation after being called as bishop. I was especially concerned about what I perceived was a copnstant negative tone in the conversations I heard amongst the ward members - especially the youth. Let me first state that I am no scriptorian (is that how you spell it?) and have a limited knowledge of specific scriptures. But as I prepared that talk I ran across (maybe I was guided to it) Moroni 9:6 and it seemed to be the basis of my message. It has remained a favorite scripture since then.

"Men are that they might have joy."

This one puts everything into perspective for me. I exist to have joy and to help others have joy.

The four passages (as described by Wikipedia) are:

Exodus 13:1-10.
Exodus 13:11-16.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9.
Deuteronomy 11:13-21.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21 are two passages also used in Mezuzah, which is put on the doorpost.

This reminds me of an exchange from the first Rocky movie. WARNING: This is from memory and may not be 100% accurate.

Mob guy: "Rocky, if you need to make some money, I can get you into some condominiums."
Rocky: "I don't use condominiums; I'm Catholic."

One might say, "I don't use phylacteries; I'm Mormon."

It's a joke, lighten up.
