Still alive, yes, and so is Ronnie James Dio. Megadeth is my 12 yo's fave.

I don't think it's peer pressure with my daughter---she hangs with a pretty unconventional crowd---but it might be a reaction against the metal she has to constantly put up with from her brothers. And parents.

My poor little girl listens to what her Mom listens to. Her favorite artist since babyhood has been Aretha Franklin. She went to a glamour party and was asked who her favorite singer was. Oh course “Aretha” was her response. The other girls made fun of her the rest of the party for not liking whoever-the-popular-artist-for-the-under-twelve-set-is. Your daughter might be listening to boring-whoever because of peer pressure. Rest assured, I am sure that she will return to her roots someday

Well there is a reason it's called acid rock. Haha.

My daughter listens to a lot of boring popular music that I can never remember who is who because it all sounds the same (All American Rejects?), but it's fine with me.

I had the same thought when they were younger, but so far so good. I did have to laugh when a couple of kids in our ward who do listen to gangsta rap seriously chastised my oldest son for listening to Pink Floyd. The other kid told my son “that kind of music will make you do drugs.”

I was always worried my kids would rebel and listen to...gangster rap? Kind of hard to rebel against parents who like more extreme music than you do. I just got tickets for my boys to go see Heaven and Hell w/Megadeth. (Heaven and Hell are basically Black Sabbath w/Dio instead of Ozzy singing.)

Thanks Susan,
I agree. I always enjoy your posts. My teenage sons are my best friends. It does help to share the same musical tastes. DH considers this our greatest parental sucess :) Lately Son #2 and I have been enjoying the late Johnny Thunder's music.
