I guess to me, the difference is similar to the difference between quantum physics and physical science.

To many of us in this physical world, physical science (i.e. Gravity, Force, Work) makes sense. We can touch it. We can experience it. We’ve seen it happen in our every day life.

The majority of us, however, find quantum physics much harder to grasp (i.e. String Theory, Space vs. Time, Wave Particle Duality). We cannot see these things with our own eyes, touch them, taste them, smell them.

Maybe in our spirit forms, we weren’t able to understand physical science, but we could grasp quantum physics. There are things in each life that we simply have a hard time understanding because we haven’t been able to truly experience them. Maybe we are simply being forced to looking at things from an entirely different frame of reference.

Oh, and our pre-mortal exitance is what decided weather or not we would gain a mortal body. Not insignificant if you ask me.

If we came to this earth because we kept our "first estate," then keeping our second estate must consist of something too. We understand that to be 1) to gain a physical body and 2) to live by faith / gain experience. We also understand that those who die before the age of accountability are celestial candidates. That must mean they gained their physical bodies here and gained the necessary experience and faith *prior* to their births into mortality.

My take is that the exercise of our agency in the pre-mortal existence is the major determinant of the circumstances of our birth here.

I am in general agreement with you on all of this.

<em>So, how much effect did our pre-mortal life have on our present existence? </em>

Huge!

I agree that it might be much more important.

I made a post along these lines here.<a href="http://smallsimple.wordpress.com/2006/03/05/mortality-as-a-final-exam/" rel="nofollow">
