I don't watch American Idol either but that may have more to do with my lack of TV channels than my intellectual superiority. Then again, I may be intellectually superior.

Anyway, the matter of which is more a waste of time, watching American Idol or (nearly?) every baseball game of a season seems to be a toss-up. :)

This post is referring to his dad. In a clip of an old home movie it showed him lounging in his garment, no shirt over it.

Wouldn't it be kind of hard for David Archuleta to have garments when he is only 17 years old?

They were the most depressing group of people Yossarian had ever been with. They were always in high spirits. They laughed at everything.

The Texan turned out to be good-natured, generous and likable. In three days no one could stand him.

My favorite book.

After seeing my double posting above, I feel a little like Yossarian. If you don't get that, quit watching American Idol and go read Catch-22.

I will confess, though, that I have watched a few episodes of American Idol, before my son went to college. Those were the early episodes with the atrocious singers and the funny lines from the Brit.

In this context, though, I like the "AI" abbreviation for American Idol. Long before this usage (was this blog the first place?), AI stood for Artificial Intelligence, which is half right about American Idol: Artificial, but no Intelligence. But, before that, AI was the euphemism of choice for Artificial Insemination, since if your dad was the AI guy for the county extension service you darn well didn't want to go around telling your buddies at school that your dad was the artificial inseminator for the county and what he did and where he put his hands when he went to work.

There is an uncanny similarity, though, to American Idol.

I'm guessing a lot of who they end up picking for the show depends on how much prior experience they have. If they had only non-experienced singers and put them on a stage live in front of millions of viewers, what a train wreck it would be. As it is, the level of train-wreck-ness the show has now is perfect.
