Three of the boys who died were from my city. From what I understand, the best boys from their troops were chosen for this camp. They were special young men with their lives ahead of them. They all had faith. I just remembered that I want to read the transcript from the sermon that one of the boys gave shortly before his dead.

You mean Brother Squires is a Life Scout. Should be easy with im for two years. I was Deacon's Quorum Pres./Senior Patrol Leader for 8 months under Wagstaff! Try that one!

But back to the article. My sentiments are the same as Cheryl's. How sad yet how noble.

I have yet to meet an ex-scout who doesn't look back at their time in scoutting with a sigh and a twinkle in their eyes. Usually the conversation turns into a "OMG, this one time we..." battle, filled with debates of who had it worse. And yet NO one I've talked to about scouts has ever said they wished they didn't do it or that they would trade the time away for anything else.

This story does make me proud to be a scout tho, and thanks for sharing it!

P.S. Seriousness aside, I will take this time to offically state that my scouting was the best and Im better than you Dad, Russ, and Bret cause Im a Life Scout so 8-P !!

Wow. That is so sad, so brave, and so touching, all at the same time. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
