New Year! Get Something Going!

MCQ - January 3, 2011

I like this post over at Mormon Mentality, and thought we should follow up here by making our own lists.  I like setting goals this time of year, and I agree with a lot of ESO’s goals.  I’m not going to lay out clothes the night before (cuz that just ain’t me), and I’m not going to do sign language (I would suck) or learn primary songs (my kids are teens) or go to relief society (I’m a dude), but other than those things, I’m adopting her list right here and now.

In addition, I hereby resolve that in 2011 I will:

1. Increase my income.

2. Learn a new song on my guitar.

3. Run a marathon in under 4 hours.

4. Climb Kings Peak.

5. Complete a triathon.

Join me sluggards!

  3. Dude! Those are some mega-goals, WHOA!

  4. Yeah, but not so much when you consider that I’ve already run five marathons and done two triathlons. I’m not really stretching that much on those goals. Plus, I already have the Kings Peak trip planned. The one that’s probably going to be the toughest is the musical goal, because I’ve never actually learned a song all the way through yet. I usually practice just enough to play the intro, then lose interest.

  6. This ain’t CBGB’s B.Russ; I don’t take requests. Anyway, how about I start with something that clocks in under 10 minutes?

  7. I think ESO’s goal of going to Relief Society is all the more interesting because you’re a dude. Makes it more of a challenge!

  8. You’re right Ziff, everyone needs a challenge. I’ll dress in drag and give it a shot. I think I can pass as my bishop’s wife.

  9. I’m not big on New Year’s Resolutions but I do occasionally like to set goals. My goal for this year was to start developing my own color film at home, and I did it for the first time this week. Mixed results (it’s trickier than B&W film), but I’m having fun.

Guess I should come up with a new goal, but I’m still working on getting this one right.

  10. Great goals for exercise.

Think about one for nutrition. There is now a blogsite on the Word of Wisdom called wordofwisdomliving.com. This is a first. The blog offers a year-long process–in 52 weekly steps–of converting one’s diet to conform with the Word of Wisdom. Very good.

  11. Awesome, susan.

Thanks for the advice, Skip. I need as many good ideas on nutrition as I can get.
