Rusty - August 9, 2007

JERRY: Elaine, what percentage of people would you say are good looking?
ELAINE: Twenty-five percent.
JERRY: Twenty-five percent, you say? No way! It’s like 4 to 6 percent. It’s a twenty to one shot.
ELAINE: You’re way off.
JERRY: Way off? Have you been to the motor vehicle bureau? It’s like a leper colony down there.
ELAINE: So what you are saying is that 90 to 95 percent of the population is undateable?
ELAINE: Then how are all these people getting together?
JERRY: Alcohol.

I tend to agree with Jerry on this one you’re all making me wonder if my standards of beauty are too high or if yours are too low. I’ll just assume that I’m right (especially because we all know that beauty is NOT in the eye of the beholder but rather in the eye of the designer).

What’s more disturbing than the 3 people who would like to eliminate the word “beauty” from our vocabulary are the 13 of you who think 65% of people are good-looking. You realize that tv isn’t real life, right?

Maybe I should have phrased it, “Is your spouse/significant other better-looking than you?”

…in other words, we get more interesting at a faster rate than good-looking as we age.

I’d love to see if your spouse/significant other answered the same as you.

  1. My wife is surprised Antonio Banderes isn’t on there.

  2. Al Gore? Tim Curry? People, raise your standards.

  3. I think that percentage may also be dependent upon location. I served my mission in SoCal and remember thinking to myself that there sure seemed to be an awful lot of very hot-looking gals. It was especially punctuated when I returned to school in the Midwest and noticed what I thought was a dearth of hot-looking gals.

  4. I’m just happy someone else said ‘nicole kidman’–I thought I was really weird…

  5. KMB, I could have put in a half dozen names including Nicole Kidman, though I said someone else. I should have said Faith Hill.

  6. I love it! Goes to show that people are attracted to all kinds. Good thing, too, or else most of us (all of us?) would be very, very alone.
