8 Years a Couple, Forever a Family

Rusty - August 6, 2008

Last night at 5:30pm Sara gave birth to our daughter, Lucca Plum Clifton (Lucca as in the Italian city and Plum as in Plummer, Sara’s maiden name). It was a long, exhausting and painful labor, but both mom and baby girl are healthy and happy.

Now we can finally get some sleep! :)

  3. Congrats! Is it Lucca like Luka or Lucha? I don’t know how to pronounce Italian c’s. My SIL who served a mission there tells me that bruschetta is actually pronounced brusketta, so I’m uncertain. Hearty congratulations all the same !

  19. Awesome! Hopefully, she’s chubby. Lucca, I mean. :) Unless you like chubby women, then Sara, too, I guess. Anyhow . . .

  20. Just for clarification, is she your first?

  21. Congrats. Only a dozen or so years and you will feel comfortable leaving her on her own while you go out. It passes really quickly :-)

  22. 1: Congrats!
2: How cute. You think you’re going to get sleep now that you have a newborn in the home. Awwwwww.

    Welcome to the world Lucca!

  26. If Sara’s maiden name is Plummer, shouldn’t Lucca’s middle name have been Plummer?

We’re having a baby in a few more months but found out we’re having a girl too! You’ll have to give me tips!

  28. Congratulations! What a beautiful name!

By the way — this is your little cousin Beth. I found this blog through a super random internet treasure hunt that started with research on Church history sites in England. I read a couple of entries and thought “A Rusty and a Don? That’s random . . .” Anyway, I meant to say hi earlier but didn’t want to hijack a discussion.

Good luck on the whole sleep thing. Our son is 3 and we’re still waiting. It’s actually such a distant memory, like eating slowly and traveling with only a carryon that we’re not quite sure if it ever really happened or if we just imagined it. Have fun!

  29. I hear that reading On Becoming Baby Wise to a baby works wonders in putting the baby to sleep.

  30. Congrats Rusty, great news. My first was a girl too (not counting my love child). If you’re thinking of moving to the burbs, I recommend Jersey over LI. G-d bless.

  32. we must have weird children… we never get as much sleep as we do with newborns. “whoops, baby needs to eat again. i’m gonna go lie down with her! heeeey, look, it’s naptime! i’m gonna go lie down with her!”

congratulations! our oldest is a girl, too. and so is our second. and third. and fourth. they’re so much fun!
